For 31 years, Dr. Rudy Atwood was the featured pianist on
Dr. Charles E. Fuller’s Old Fashioned Revival Hour. The radio broadcasts originated at the old Municipal Auditorium in Long Beach, California, where thousands gathered each week to hear the live broadcasts. Many admitted coming to Long Beach just to see Rudy Atwood play the piano. Others said they listened to the radio broadcasts primarily to hear Rudy. After a long and very successful ministry, Dr. Rudy Atwood went to be with the Lord on October 16, 1992. He had just finished playing When They Ring The Golden Bells For You And Me at the Country Church of Hollywood (where he began playing in 1933) when he was called Home to be with his Lord and Savior. |

The date was November 6, 1962. Brethren High School in Paramount had just finished their fund-raiser to purchase a new piano for the music department. The decision was made to purchase a new seven foot Baldwin Grand Piano. The dedication concert was planned and Rudy Atwood was selected to play this fine instrument.
This is the earliest known recording of one of Rudy’s concerts, pre-dating the others by about 26 years, and the only one where he preaches a short sermon. Rudy’s unique sense of humor comes through during his opening remarks and as he introduces some of his numbers. This rare live performance is also the only known recording in which Rudy plays classical selections in addition to his usual sacred repertoire. This CD shows Rudy Atwood at his best during the height of his career and offers a candid look into one of his seldom recorded performances. |

This album was produced from the original masters of this rare Rudy Atwood piano concert, which was performed live on May 1,1989 at Northland Baptist College in Dunbar, Wisconsin. Rudy was 76 years old at the time. Five minutes of lost and previously missing material are also included on the CD and have been painstakingly restored and inserted back into their original place within the program. On CD, this concert can now be heard in its entirety for the first time since the original performance. |
